3rd International Seminar on Da’wah

The 3rd International Seminar on Da’wah (ISOD III) will be held on the 21st of November 2017 at UKM Graduate Centre, Bangi. This international seminar gives its focus on da’wah in the connected world with special reference to the importance roles and experiences of online da’wah; impact and influence to the online and offline community. Therefore, the academician, researchers, media practitioners, and those who involve directly in this field are invited to share their findings and thoughts. All the ideas are needed to give more enhancements to da’wah in this connected world. In short, identifying challenges, evaluating the performance, measuring achievement and making a revision on the current practices are required for more effective da’wah in the future.

This seminar jointly organized by Jabatan Pengajian Dakwah dan Kepimpinan, Fakulti Pengajian Islam, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and Department of Outreach Implementation, Malaysian Communications And Multimedia Commission, with the cooperation of Fakultas Agama Islam, Universitas Islam Ibnu Khaldun, Bogor, Fakulti Tamadun Islam, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), KUISCELL Sdn. Bhd and JAKIM.

In conjunction with the special exhibition, ‘Islamic Bookbinding’, IAMM is pleased to host a special lecture by Dr. Karin Scheper entitled “Tradition and Innovation: Bookbinding across the Islamic World”.

“Tradition and Innovation : Bookbinding across the Islamic world”

Recent studies have brought to light that within the tradition, very specific methods, materials and structural elements were used to produce signature bindings. In this lecture, both the traditional and innovative techniques that bookbinders used will be addressed, and as the value of these artefacts will be highlighted, it will become clear how important it is that we understand these items and preserve them for future generations. Islamic Bookbinding

The exhibition will showcase around 70 artefacts that portray the beautiful elements of bookbindings from around the Islamic world. The exhibition features wonderful loose bindings and manuscript covers from the collection of the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia.

The Tatars – Muslims in the Republic of Poland

Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur – Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia (IAMM) is pleased to announce the launching of our latest exhibition “The Tatars – Muslims in the Republic of Poland”. This exhibition which will be officially open to public on 11th April 2017 is a collaborative effort between the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia and the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Kuala Lumpur. In conjunction with the exhibition, a special lecture entitle ‘Islam and Relationship with the Muslim lands in Poland: A Short Historical Survey from 900 until current times’ will be delivered by Prof. Dr. Ataullah Bogdan Kopanski during the launching on 11th April 2017 at 3.00 pm.
